Easy Escape is a brand of ELIDE GLOBAL TOURISM LLP, which is the company responsible for your data. We plan self-drive trips in Europe. This page says what we collect from you, why, who helps us process it and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions go to hello@easy-escape.com.
What we collect, and when
When you write to us or book a call. Your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number and whatever you tell us about the trip you have in mind.
When you create an account for the trip price calculator. Your name, email address, WhatsApp number and a password. The account itself is run by Clerk, our sign-in provider; we never see your password. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google sends us your name, email address and profile picture. We ask Google for nothing else: no access to your mail, files or contacts.
When you use the calculator. The choices you make (route or countries, party size, car and stay level) and the price shown, together with your account id and the time. We keep these so we can pick up the conversation where you left it and understand what people look for.
When you send an estimate to our team. The estimate, your preferred channel (WhatsApp or email), the WhatsApp number you gave, the exact consent wording you agreed to, the time you agreed, your IP address and your browser type. We keep this record so we can show, if ever asked, that you invited us to contact you.
Automatically. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, time) for security for a short period. We do not run advertising trackers and we do not sell data.
Why we use it
- To answer you, prepare a proposal and, if you book, organise the trip. Without your contact details we cannot do this.
- To contact you on the channel you chose after you send us an estimate. This rests on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by telling us.
- To run the calculator behind an account, which keeps automated copying of our rates in check. This is a legitimate interest of ours; it costs you a one-minute sign-up and nothing else.
- To keep the site secure and to improve it, using the usage records described above.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of providers, each only for the job named here, each bound by its own data processing terms:
- Clerk (accounts and sign-in), Google (only if you sign in with Google), Neon (the database that stores calculator choices and requests), Vercel (hosting), Resend (sending our emails), WhatsApp (if you ask us to contact you there).
- When you book, we pass the details the car rental company and the hotels need to issue your confirmations, and nothing more.
Some of these providers run servers outside the country you live in. Where that is the case they commit to the standard contractual safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
- Your account: until you delete it or ask us to.
- Calculator choices and estimate requests, including the consent record: for as long as we might reasonably need them to serve you and to prove consent, after which they are deleted. Ask and we delete them earlier.
- Trip bookings and invoices: for as long as accounting law requires.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. Write to hello@easy-escape.com from the address you used with us. We answer within a month. If you believe we have handled your data badly, you may also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Cookies
The site sets one kind of cookie: the session cookie that keeps you signed in to the calculator, placed by Clerk. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Turning cookies off in your browser signs you out of the calculator and changes nothing else.
Children
The site and the calculator are for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Bigger changes are announced on the site. See also our terms of use.
